HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR SEPTIC SYSTEM

   Your septic system works by utilizing naturally occurring anaerobic bacteria to digest the solid waste in your septic tank where it then settles to the bottom of your tank as sludge. With proper maintenance and usage your septic system should see many years of use.

   Here are some helpful tips for keeping your septic system working and in good order.

NEVER  flush or pour anything down the drains except
organic liquids, human waste, and septic safe toilet paper.

NEVER  use  bacteria enhancing chemicals or additives. These products may actually disrupt the naturally occurring bacteria from digesting the solids in your tank, and eventually make  their way into the water table as well

NEVER use liquid drain opener or cleaner as these highly acidic chemicals are not only harmful to the environment and your health, but can also damage your septic system's balanced ecosystem.

NEVER flush “flush-able” wipes down your toilet even if they claim to be septic safe. They do not break down and cause clogs and backups.

Have your septic tank pumped every 3-4 years depending on use, and inspected every 5 years
